For historical reasons, my web site used to be subdivided into a Blue Site, which contained research-related stuff and photos of places I have lived in, and a Green Site, which contained other stuff and photos of places I have visited.
There is no longer any reason to keep them separate, and they are gradually being merged.
In August 2007, webspace4free.biz went pear-shaped, taking my web sites with it. I will not be caught like that again. Since then, both sites have appeared on two web hosts.
My first choice, 110mb.com, has been very stable.
I wish I could say the same for my backup host. As of June 2009, joolo.com, quotaless.com, newsit.es, aokhost.com, 987mb.com and freehost10.com have all folded up or sold out, and I have just moved on to byethost22.com.
The following "permanent domain names" should redirect to one or other of my current sites:
From http://www.co.cc
http://www.pacvarley.co.cc redirects to http://pacvarley.110mb.com/
http://www.petervarley.co.cc redirects to http://pacvarley.byethost22.com/
From http://www.smartdots.com/
http://www.pacvarley.eu.tc redirects to http://pacvarley.110mb.com/
http://www.petervarley.eu.tc redirects to http://pacvarley.byethost22.com/
Whether or not such "permanent domain names" last any longer than any other sort remains to be seen.
